The Yankees Offense Comes Alive as They Take Two Out of Three Against The Orioles

The New York Yankees went to Camden Yards to face off against their punching bag, the Baltimore Orioles. Corey Kluber got the start in Game 1. Kluber was in no way lights out, but he gave the Yankees a chance to win the ballgame. Kluber went six innings while allowing four runs on seven hits. Kluber was solid, but he made a few mistakes in the strike zone. The Yankees scored two runs from two Aaron Judge solo shots.

In the top of the seventh Gio Urshela pinch hit for Tyler Wade with two men on and the Orioles up 4-2. Gio Urshela put together a great at bat as he fouled off pitch after pitch. Finally Gio got one that he could handle, and he drove it to right center and over the wall. The clutch home run off the bat of Gio gave the Yanks a 5-4 lead.

Chad Green pitched a shutout inning in the seventh, and Wandy Peralta did the same in the eighth. Jonathan Loaisiga got the save in the ninth. The Yankees got a nice comeback victory over the O’s thanks to Gio’s heroics.

The Yankees looked to clinch the series victory with Domingo German on the bump. German was brilliant. German pitched six hits while allowing one run on four hits. German was given plenty of run support as the Yankees’ offense came alive.

They started the scoring off with a run on a passed ball and a Gary Sanchez’s two RBI single in the first. In the second Aaron Judge stayed hot as he blasted a two run shot to make the score 5-0. The Yanks scored another run off of a balk. Luke Voit then picked up his first RBI’s of the year with a two run single. Lucas Luetge, Justin Wilson, and Luis Cessa all threw shutout innings to close out the game. The Yankees picked up another series win in this 8-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles.

The Yankees looked to complete the sweep in Baltimore as they handed the ball to Jordan Montgomery. The Yankees got off to a good start as they scored four runs in the first. DJ LeMahieu scored off a Gio Urshela double play. Gary Sanchez then hit a two run shot to make it a 3-0 game.

Clint Frazier came up after Sanchez and blasted a solo shot of his own to make it a 4-0 game. Jordan Montgomery gave up a pair of runs in the first to make the Yankees’ lead 4-2. Judge continued to tear the cover off the baseball as he hit another home run to make the lead 5-2 in the third. In the third Monty gave up three runs to tie the game up. Monty pitched three innings while allowing five runs on six hits.

Mike King came in for the fourth and gave up a run. The Yankees now trailed 6-5. In the seventh Wandy Peralta gave up a two run homer to Maikel Franco. That extended the deficit to 8-5. In the eighth Luis Cessa gave up a two run single to Ryan Mountcastle to extend the deficit to 10-5. DJ LeMahieu hit an RBI single in the ninth to make it a 10-6 game, but it would not matter as the Yankees lost the game 10-6.

The Yankees continue a trend where they are unable to complete sweeps. This game was odd because the offense was alive, and the pitching could not get the job done. The Yankees’ pitching has been elite all season, and the offense has struggled a bit. This game was the opposite. Although this game was rough, the Yankees still won the series, and they will start a four game set against the Texas Rangers on Monday.
