The Yankees Take Two Out of Three Over The Orioles to Start a Homestand

The New York Yankees looked to continue their success as they faced off against the Baltimore Orioles in a three game set. Andrew Heany got his Yankee debut in Game one of the series. Heany really struggles in this one. Heany gave up four solo home runs in his four innings of work. The Yankees scored a run on an Anthony Rizzo sac fly in the fifth, but that would be the only offense the Yankees could get in this one. Jorge Lopez shut down the Yankee lineup. The Orioles would tack on two more in the sixth off of Joely Rodriguez, who was making his Yankee debut as well. Albert Abreu would give up a run in the eighth to make it 7-1. This 7-1 loss was completely deflating especially coming after a three game sweep in Miami.

Luis Gill made his MLB debut in this one as he looked to help get the Yankees on the right track. Gill was absolutely sensational in his debut. Gill threw six shutout innings with six strikeouts. The Yankees also gave Gill all the run support in the world. The Yankees would go up 1-0 in the second by a Gleyber Torres double. In the third DJ Lemahieu doubled to make it 2-0 in the third. Rizzo then singled DJ in to score. Stanton then hit an RBI single of his own. Later that inning Gary Sanchez roped a RBI double. That was followed by a Gleyber Torres sac fly which capped off the huge five run inning for the Yanks. In the fourth Stanton would make it 9-0 with a three run homer.

Stephen Ridings made his MLB debut in the top of the seventh, and he struck out the side. His stuff was electric, and it makes you wonder why it took so long for him to be called up. Brody Koerner finished the game, and it was also his MLB debut. He pitched two innings while allowing one earned run. In the eighth Tyler Wade stroked a two run double down the right field line. Rizzo would then hit an RBI groundout, and Aaron Judge would cap off the inning with a solo home run to make it 13-1. This 13-1 win was a great bounceback game for the Yankees.

The Yankees went for the series win over the Orioles in the rubber game of this three game set in the Bronx. Jameson Taillon toed the slab in the boogie down as he looked to ride his hot streak. Taillon would give up two early runs in the first from a Ryan Mountcastle sac fly, and an Austin Hayes RBI single. In the fourth Ryan Mountcastle hit a solo homer to make it 3-0. The Yankees would take two back in the fourth from an Anthony Rizzo homer, and a Gleyber Torres RBI single. DJ Lemahieu would tie the game up with a RBI single in the fifth. Taillon pitched 6.1 solid innings in this one. He gave up two early runs and a solo shot, but he kept us in the game and pitched well. Over his 6.1 innings he allowed two earned runs on four hits with ten strikeouts.

Gleyber then made it 8-3 with a double. Clay Holmes pitched the eighth, and in that inning Judge made a spectacular play to nab Cedric Mullins at second. The Yankees tacked on some more runs in the eighth from a DJ Lemahieu two run double to make it 10-3.
