​​The Yankees Take Three Out of Four in The Bronx Against the Mariners

 The Yankees gave the ball to Nestor Cortes Jr is Game one of this four game set against the Mariners in the Bronx. The Yankees took an early 1-0 lead by a Gleyber Torres sac fly in the second. The Mariners tied the game by a Mitch Haniger sac fly in the third. In the fourth Kyle Seager hit a solo homer to take a 2-1 lead for the Mariners. The Yankees tied the game back up in the bottom of the fourth by a Kyle Higashioka RBI groundball. In the seventh Chad Green gave up a solo home run to Jarred Kelenic to give the Mariners a 3-2 lead. In the seventh Joey Gallo stepped to the plate with runners on the corners and two outs. Gallo drove the ball over the short porch in right to give the Yankees a 5-3 lead. Gallo’s first Yankee home run was a special one, and it even earned Joey Gallo a curtain call. Zack Britton threw a shutout eighth, and Aroldis Chapman got the save. The Yankees picked up a nice 5-3 win to take the first game of the series.

Game two of the series was a bullpen game for the Yanks. Wandy Peralta got the start, and he threw 1.2 scoreless innings. Stephen Ridings then came on and threw 1.1 shutout innings. Joely Rodriguez came on next and threw a scoreless inning. Clay Holmes pitched next and threw 1.1 innings, and he left the game with his runners on. Lucas Luetge came on next and gave up a RBI single to Abraham Toro. Luetge threw 1.1 innings. Jonathan Loaisiga pitched the next 1.1 innings. In the eighth Aaron Judge hit a game tying sac fly. Ack Britton kept the game tied in the ninth. In the tenth Chad Green came on and gave up a RBI single to J.P Crawford. With two outs in the bottom of the tenth Giancarlo Stanton hit a game tying RBI single to keep the game alive. Albert Abreu then pitched wonderfully in the eleventh to keep the game tied. In the bottom of the inning with two outs and two strikes Brett Gardner lined a walk off single. The Yankees got a great 3-2 win to take a 2-0 series lead against the Mariners.

Andrew Heaney got his second Yankee start in Game three of the series. Heaney got off to a rough start as he gave up a two run home run to Kyle Seager in the first. The Yankees got one run back by an Aaron Judge home run in the bottom of the first. Heaney gave up three runs in the second to give the Mariners a 4-1 lead. After the second Heaney settled in, and he gave the Yankees a much needed six innings. In the sixth Rougned Odor got the Yankees right back in the game by a two run porch job to make it a 4-3 game in the bottom of the sixth. Later that inning Kyle Higashioka lined a ground rule double to tie the game. Later that inning Anthony Rizzo hit a RBI grounder to take a 5-4 lead. Clay Holmes pitched the next 1.1 innings, and Joely Rodriguez threw the next 0.2 innings. Then Jonathan Loaisiga pitched a scoreless ninth and picked up the save. The Yankees got a huge comeback victory to secure the series win.

Luis Gil got his second career start as the Yankees went for the series sweep. Gil was magnificent in this one. He threw 5 shutout innings with eight strikeouts. Unfortunately the Yankees were unable to give the youngster any run support. Wandy Peralta threw a scoreless sixth inning, and Stephen Ridings threw a scoreless seventh. In the eighth Lucas Luetge gave up two unearned runs to give the Mariners a 2-0 lead. Albert Abreu kept it 2-0 as he threw a shutout ninth. The Yankees were unable to put together any offense as they had zero hits with runners in scoring position, and they scored zero runs. This 2-0 loss kept the Yankees from completing the sweep, but the Yankees got another series win as they took three out of four against the Mariners.
