Yankees Head to Toronto and Take Two Out of Three From The Blue Jays

The New York Yankees headed to Toronto to face off against the Blue Jays in a three game set. Jordan Montgomery got the start in game one of the series. The game was tied at 0-0 in the fourth inning until Gleyer Torres smoked a two run homer to give the Yanks a 2-0 lead. The Blue Jays came right back as they scored two in the fourth to tie it up. Monty would finish his night after five solid innings with five strikeouts and two earned runs. Jonathan Loaisiga came on for the sixth. Miguel Castro then pitched 0.2 innings followed by 1.1 innings from Clay Holmes. In the top of the ninth the game was still tied 2-2. Giancarlo Stanton got on with a single in the top of the ninth. Tim Locastro pinch ran for him and stole second. Gleyber Torres then stepped up with the leading runner on second and two outs. Torres ripped an RBI single to take a 3-2 lead in the ninth. Chad Green then came on and got the save. The Yankees grabbed game one of the big three game set against Toronto.

 Jameson Taillon toed the slab in game two as the Yankees tried to secure the series win over the Blue Jays. The game was a pitchers’ duel until the fifth inning when the Blue Jays took a 1-0 lead from a Bo Bichette RBI single. The Yankees answered in the sixth when Aaron Judge crushed a no doubter to tie the game 1-1. Taillon would finish his night after six fantastic innings. He held one of the best offenses in baseball to only one run through six dominant innings. Taillon turned in yet another great outing. The Yankees would blow it open in the seventh. Josh Donaldson smoked an RBI double to make it 2-1. Marwin Gonzalez then hit another RBI double to make it 3-1. Then Gonzalez somehow got out of a rundown between third and home to score the Yankees fourth run. Aaron Hicks then hit an RBI single to make it 5-1. Aaron Judge capped off the inning with a two run double to make it 7-1. Wandy Peralta came on for the seventh, and Miguel Castro pitched the eighth. In the top of the ninth Giancarlo Stanton hit a nuke to make it 9-1, and Lucas Luetge pitched the ninth. The Yankees won this one by a score of 9-1 as they secured the series victory.

The Yankees looked to complete their fourth straight sweep as they faced off against the Toronto Blue Jays in the third game of a three game set. Nestor Cortes Jr took the mound as he looked to continue his dominant stretch of starts. The Jays got on the board first with a Matt Chapman solo home run. The Yankees tied it up in the third when Joey Gallo hit a solo homer. The Jays took back the lead when Vladimir Guerrero Jr hit an RBI single. Cortes did not have his best stuff in this one. He battled his way through four innings while allowing two earned runs. Mike King came on and was absolutely filthy yet again. He threw three perfect innings with three strikeouts. Clay Holmes then came on and threw a scoreless eighth inning. Aaron Boone was upset with the home plate umpire after a series of bad calls against Aaron Judge. Boone would be ejected in the eighth inning after a fiery rant from Boone.

The Yankees did not go down without a fight in the top of the ninth. Isaiah Kiner - Falefa came up to bat with the bases loaded and two outs down by one run in the ninth. IKF would ground out to third base to end the game. The Yankees dropped the final game of the three game set against the Blue Jays as the win streak comes to an end. The Yankees would win the series on the road against a tough division opponent. Although they could not complete the sweep, they still played some really good baseball and had a good series. Next The Yankees will face off against the Texas Rangers in a three game set at Yankee Stadium.
