Yankees Offense Comes Alive as They Win Big Series Against Tampa

The New York Yankees faced off against the Tampa Bay Rays in a big three game series. The Rays came into the Bronx down four games to the Yankees. Frankie Montas got the start for the Yanks in game one. The Rays took an early 1-0 lead from a Randy Arozerana RBI double in the first. It became 3-0 in the third when Wander Franco hit a two run double. Arozarena hit another RBI double in the fourth to make it 4-0. Montas was pulled after 5.2 innings with four earned runs. He has had a few solid starts but for the most part he has struggled since coming to New York. Hopefully he finds his footing before the playoffs. Lucas Leutge came on and finished the sixth and pitched the seventh. The Yankees finally got on the board in the seventh from an Aaron Judge RBI single. Ryan Weber came on and threw a scoreless eighth and ninth innings. The Yankees made it 4-2 in the ninth when Kyle Higashioka hit a solo homer. That was all the Yankees pushed across though, as they dropped game one by a score of 4-2.

The Yankees looked to tie the series up in game two. Jameson Taillon toed the slab in this one. The Yanks got off to an amazing start as they scored seven runs in the first inning and pushed Corey Kluber out of the game. Gleyber Torres hit an RBI single to make it 1-0, Oswaldo Cabrera hit a two run single, Miguel Andujar hit an RBI single, Kyle Higashioka had an RBI fielder’s choice, Aaron Judge hit an RBI single, and Josh Donaldosn hit a solo home run to make it 7-0. The Rays got on the board with an RBI single from Wander Franco in the third. The Yanks made it 8-1 in the seventh when Donaldson scored on a wild pitch, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa then hit an RBI single to make it 9-1. Jameson Taillon turned in a fantastic outing for the Yankees in this one. Jamo threw 7.1 innings with eight strikeouts. He was pulled in the eighth, and Lou Trivino came in. Trivino gave up a two run single to Harold Ramirez. Those runs went to Taillon so he finished with three earned runs. In the bottom of the eighth Giancarlo Stanton hit a solo home run to make it 10-3. Jonathan Loaisiga came on to pitch the ninth for the Yankees. The Yankees won game two in a big way by a score of 10-3.

The Yankees looked to secure the series win against the Tampa Bay Rays. Domingo German opened this rubber game for the Yanks. The Yankees got off to another hot start when Gleyber Torres blasted a three run homer in the first inning. German was pulled after the first inning as he was just an opener. Lucas Luetge came on for the second. He got the first two outs, and then Greg Weissert came on. Weissert gave up an RBI single to Jose Siri. That run went to Lucas Luetge. The Yankees made it 4-1 in the second on a sac fly from Aaron Judge. Stanton then blew it open with a three run homer to make it 7-1. Gleyber Torres then hit another home run to make it 8-1. Oswaldo Cabrera then hit his first Major League home run to make it 10-1. Wandy Peralta came on and tossed 2.1 innings, and Lou Trivino came on for 0.2 innings. Ron Marinaccio came on for the sixth and gave up an RBI double to Christian Bethancourt, and Taylor Walls hit an RBI single to make it 3-0. Clarke Schmidt then threw shutout seventh and eighth innings. Clay Holmes came in for the ninth. He gave up an RBI single to Ji-Man Choi to make it 10-4, but he did close it out. The Yankees blew out the Rays in their second straight game to win the big series. The Yankees will now head to Boston to play the Red Sox in a two game series starting on Tuesday.
