The Yankees Get Completely Embarrassed at Fenway, and It's Clear Changes Need To Be Made

Domingo German got the start in a huge game against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. German got off to a rough start in this one. The Red Sox got off to a 3-0 lead in the first off of RBI doubles from Xander Bogaerts and Hunter Renfroe. The Yankees responded with a three run inning of their own lead by a two run single by DJ LeMahieu and an RBI walk by Clint Frazier. In the third the Red Sox took a 4-3 lead from a Hunter Renfroe sac fly.

The Yankees posed a threat in the fourth with a leadoff double from Gio Urshela. Miguel Andujar then grounded a base hit to right, and Gio Urshela was waved home. He was then gunned down at the plate as the Red Sox preserved their lead. The send by Phil Nevin was highly questionable, and it killed the Yankees momentum. In the eighth the Red Sox extended their lead with a Christian Vasquez single. The Yankees got two on in the ninth, but they would not push any across as DJ LeMahieu grounded into a game-ending double play. The Yankees dropped game one 5-3.

Jordan Montgomery got the start in the crucial middle game of the three game set against the Red Sox at Fenway. The Red Sox pushed two across in the second inning off of some lucky infield hits and lackadaisical defense by the Yankees. The Red Sox scored another lucky run on a weak infield dribbler. Jordan Montgomery put together a decent start, but he was plagued by perfectly placed infield hits. Monty threw six innings while allowing three runs on eight hits with five strikeouts, but he was not hit hard in this one. The Red Sox put up another run in the seventh with a Xander Bogaerts sac fly to make it a 4-0 game.

DJ Lemahieu continued to swing the bat well as he put the first Yankee’ run across with a solo homer in the eighth. The Yankees posed a threat in the ninth as DJ Lemahiue roped a RBI single to make it 4-2. The Yankees were not able to do more than that as Aaron Judge had a game ending strikeout with runners on. The Yankees dropped game two by a score of 4-2.

Gerrit Cole tried to salvage the third game of the series with the Red Sox. Cole got off to an awful start as the Red Sox put up a four run first inning off of a solo homer by Kike Hernandez and a three run shot by Rafael Devers. In the third JD Martinez made it a 5-0 game with a solo shot. Later that inning Christian Vasquez made it 6-0 with a sac fly. Judge put the Yankees on the board with a two run shot in the sixth. Devers struck again with a RBI single in the seventh to make it 7-2. In the eighth Vasquez made it 8-2 with a solo homer of his own.

Later that inning Kike Hernadez had an RBI check swing to make it 9-2. The Yankees would drop this one 9-2 as they get swept by their bitter rivals, the Boston Red Sox. The Yankees are now 0-6 against the Red Sox this season, and have been completely outclassed by the Sox in each of those six games. The Yankees' struggles now hit rock bottom as the Yankees can’t win games within the division, and they are unable to hit with runners in scoring position. The Yankees prove to be way too right handed. They still can’t score runs when they don’t hit home runs. The Yankees have to seriously look themselves in the mirror and figure out a way to turn this ship around and turn it around fast.
