In the bottom of the ninth Aroldis Chapman came on for the save. He quickly got into a jam, and he could not find the strike zone. He walked two batters and found himself with runners on first and second with nobody out. As Chapman was struggling mightily to throw strikes, the Yankees were gonna need a miracle to win this game, and that’s exactly what they got. A ground ball was hit to Gio Urshela at third. He stepped on third and threw the ball to DJ Lemahieu. DJ whipped the ball over to Chris Gittens at first for the triple play. The Yankees converted a walk off triple play for their third triple play of the season. This 2-1 Yankees victory allowed them to pick up a huge series win over the Oakland A’s.
